Welcome to Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey
Welcome to Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey!
Every day, Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey provides skilled and compassionate vital Human Services to children, adults and families. From Adoption to Older Adult Services, when the need arises you can call on Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey.
JFS staff provides an array of specialized services for individuals, families and children. JFS works to strengthen family life and encourage personal growth by providing quality social and health services to individuals and families in need.
Founded in 1912 as United Hebrew Charities, JFS provided emergency funds to individuals and families in need during the Great Depression and two World Wars. In the twenty- first century, the mission of our multi-purpose, nonsectarian agency remains the same: to provide assistance and quality social and health services to individuals and families in need.
JFS is licensed as an outpatient mental health agency, adoption agency, childcare provider, and homecare agency. Each year JFS helps over 6,000 individuals, from children to older adults in Union and parts of Somerset Counties. We serve people of every social, economic, race, ethnicity, religious background, and sexual orientation.
Our state of the art facility in Elizabeth was dedicated in 2007 as The Halpern Building, complemented by The Mitzi and Warren Eisenberg Multipurpose Center, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Center for Senior Services, and The Wilf Center for Family and Children Services.
Multiple sources fund our many diverse programs, including: Union County Division on Aging, Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey; Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany; United Way of Greater Union County; United Fund of Westfield; NJ After 3; fees; corporations; foundations; and local, county, state and federal governments. In addition, our Board and volunteers support JFS programs through yearly fundraising.
